A Page dedicated to the fluffy and round Long-tailed tits.
The Long-tailed tit is an enchanting little bird that flits through the woodlands, gardens, and hedgerows of Europe and Asia. Recognizable by its distinctive, fluffy white head with a contrasting black eye stripe, this bird sports a notably long tail—hence the name—that is nearly double the length of its body.
Its plumage is mostly soft pink, white, and black, giving it an endearing and somewhat comical appearance. They are small, agile birds, typically measuring around 14 centimetres in length, with almost half of that being their tail.
The Long-tailed tit is known for its sociable nature, often seen in small, noisy flocks, especially during the winter months. Their high-pitched calls and cheerful demeanour make them a delightful sight. They primarily feed on insects, spiders, and, occasionally, seeds, which they energetically forage for in trees and shrubs.
These birds are also renowned for their intricate, domed nests made from moss, feathers, and spider silk, often intricately woven and camouflaged to blend into their surroundings.
